Brad went from one “end of a job” rush to another. After finishing up the US Embassy in Berlin, he started immediately working on the CityNorth Phoenix project (http://www.citynorthaz.com/ ). With substantial completion in December, he finally was able to take a vacation, his first in a very, very long time. This has been a crazy year and the time has gone by so quickly! We started off 2008 in Berlin, Germany and are ending the year in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. We became first time homeowners in July, are enjoying the sunshine and warmth of Phoenix, and also just got a dog, Keesha - our "Taco Bell" Chihuahua (our present from Mom Nelson). We have really enjoyed all of the “exotic” places we’ve lived and especially all of the great friends we’ve made. To see updates of us more often than yearly, go to our blog at http://www.nelsonfamilyof6.blogspot.com/

Nelson Family News 2008
Corin turned 1 in October, and has proven to be the fastest crawler we’ve had. Although starting off light (9 ½ lbs), he has sprouted up and is now over the 95th percentile for height, but he is still our smallest baby!
Niko turns 4 in January, and still has everyone amazed at his size, with the usual comment being “he is the biggest 3 year old I’ve ever seen!” Niko is always happy, has the cutest smile, and loves to watch Go, Diego, Go! During the summer, Niko learned to swim, and has no fear of the pool.
Alex turns 7 in February, is doing well in the First grade, and really likes his teacher, Mrs. Allan. Alex also learned to swim this summer, and still wanted to swim in November when the water temperature was down to 65*F (from 95*F). Alex has also been Dad’s helper when working on projects, always trying to design something new.
Katie has just turned 10 – the magical double digit age. She is in the 4th grade at Boulder Creek Elementary School (a 4 minute walk from home), with Ms. Zahniser as her teacher. Katie made the Principals List for her first quarter with all ‘A’s and ‘+’s. She continues to love to read, but now has been enjoying her early birthday present – George, Jr - a little 9 wk old Black Tabby kitten.
Jen is now ** old, but still looks 18, ok, maybe 22 now (can we tell that Brad is writing this?). Jen is still running like mad…after getting the new house in order and getting the kids situated in school, she now has 3 minutes of free time instead of -3 minutes. Jen was ecstatic to move into our own home with a backyard for the kids – finally a place for them to run!
May God bless you and your family - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Love,
Brad & Jen,
Katie, Alex, Niko, & Corin Nelson

Homework help????
8 December 2008: homework is always more fun with a friend, but not always easier, as George later fell asleep on Katie's right arm and she had to resort to writing with her left hand.
